Goodman Games Turns 25; WoW D&D Ships 13 Classes

issues ttrpg  2026-10-09

Issue #015 · Week of October 09, 2026

This Week’s Verdict

The week’s big numbers are 25 and 13: Goodman Games hits its silver anniversary while D&D x World of Warcraft arrives with thirteen classes, which is roughly twelve more than anyone asked for. Everything else is a steady drip of zines, play reports, and the usual October obligation to produce art prompts on a schedule.

Releases & Announcements

Goodman Games marks 25 years with two hardcover history-and-art books and a custom 25-sided die, per Geek Native. Fitting for the people who still sell DCC adventures with modules printed inside the cover.

The D&D x World of Warcraft supplement from Wizards of the Coast has had all 13 of its classes revealed, with Jason Volk of D&D Fanatics breaking down the MMO-inspired options. Sirius Dice is attaching itself to the crossover with Alliance- and Horde-themed Adventure Dice, and German retailers are already fielding the limited-edition-slipcase-versus-alternate-cover question, which tells you where this is headed commercially.

Elsewhere, Catalyst Game Labs gets Anarchy 2.0 for Shadowrun (via ICv2). Underground Oracle Publishing released Cypher Shorts: Dark Supers Shorts Vol. 2. On the self-published front, antrododm put two zines for the Shadowdark hack Shadows over Sanctuary on itch, and doomedzone released Doomed to Die issue 3, free and CC0, covering an order of oathbreaking knights.

Rules & Errata

The October 2026 D&D Beyond Drop has landed with a new subclass plus monsters, maps, and feats themed to the Shadowfell, per D&D Fanatics, which also flags a new Magus class and Sorrow Knight fighter subclass circulating this cycle. Wizards has not published anything here that constitutes formal errata, only content.

No official Shadowdark or DCC rules changes this week. Inkwell Ideas is running a Shadowdark post-a-day for October, with a Luck Token entry that qualifies as a house rule at best.

The Community

The perennial “is 5e too complex” argument surfaced again when fuzzyface asked whether anyone wants to return to original D&D, complaining about slow play and too many skills. Meanwhile ruckerworks published a genuinely useful analysis placing G1-3: Against the Giants, T1: The Village of Hommlet, and B2: The Keep on the Borderlands on a railroad-to-sandbox spectrum, with Hommlet sitting in the middle.

strangequark won the 2026 Road Crew Encounter Design Contest from Goodman Games with “The Bodies of Ballyroney Bog,” which should see print somewhere. MÖRKTOBER continues to fill timelines with daily Mörk Borg art prompts, and spiceomancy collected a group-made castle where each room was submitted by a different blogger with zero coordination, which is either delightful or a cautionary tale about dungeon design.

For the toolmakers: embersLucas deployed an Android app for Embers tools to the Play Store, invite-only for testing, and added spellcasting DC modifiers for 5e and 5.5e.

On the Horizon

Underground Oracle Publishing’s Creature Companions Expanded, a Tales of the Valiant-compatible sourcebook for adventuring with (or as) a creature companion, is live and funded on Kickstarter. The Merry Mushmen have put the first three issues of KNOCK! on Bundle of Holding, which is the cheapest the magazine will ever be. RockClanProductions is heading to Hal-Con with hardcover ANDERS core books and softcover modules for ANDERS and Valtetine.
