Paizo's Whole Catalog Lands on DriveThruRPG
Issue #007 · Week of August 14, 2026
This Week’s Verdict
A quiet week, which means the industry did its business in ledgers and legal filings rather than at the table. Paizo finally reappeared on DriveThruRPG, workers at Rowan, Rook and Decard organized a union, and the D&D machine kept shoveling out World of Warcraft tie-in accessories. If you were hoping for a rules bombshell, go read a good dungeon map instead.
Releases & Announcements
The biggest logistical shift: Paizo has joined DriveThruRPG, making over 1,200 Pathfinder and Starfinder PDFs available across DTRPG and the Pathfinder/Starfinder Infinite marketplaces, per Tribality and EN World, with print options and more titles promised. This lands alongside separate reporting that Paizo may finally recover its inventory from bankrupt distributor Diamond, held since January 2025. Two overdue supply-chain untanglings in one week.
On the D&D front, Keith Baker’s Wild West 5.5e sourcebook Frontiers of Eberron: Quickstone has arrived on D&D Beyond. Beadle & Grimm’s is reprinting its Curse of Strahd Legendary Edition box set for Halloween. The D&D World of Warcraft book continues its slow rollout with two alternate slipcase covers (Alliance and Horde), a November DM’s screen, and a line of miniatures. Wizards also released the D&D: Mega D20 Decision Die, which exists.
In the indie and OSR corners, Seandar16 announced Knights In White Satin for Shadowdark, self-released rather than crowdfunded (“Nuts to crowdfunding”). Night Owl Workshop is bundling Celtic Legends on DriveThruRPG.
Rules & Errata
No official errata for D&D 5e, Shadowdark, or DCC this week. What passes for rules content is old-school archaeology: Random Wizard circulated Gary Gygax’s own 2007 house rules for OD&D, including flat stat bonuses above 14 and negative HP death thresholds scaled to level, a reminder that the game’s designer never ran it as written either. The same feed ran an informal poll on initiative systems (individual, side-based, phased, simultaneous).
If you want procedure rather than nostalgia, Sly Flourish published “Types of Lightning Rods,” on picking monsters to showcase specific character abilities, plus a short note on mixing simple combats with complex, alternate-goal encounters.
The Community
The Rowan, Rook and Decard unionization is the week’s item with actual weight: workers at the British publisher formed what EN World calls a first for the UK tabletop industry. Pair it with EN World’s ongoing thread on crediting creators properly in awards and media, and there is at least one real conversation happening about who makes these books and how they get paid.
The design-argument perennial resurfaced via Tabletop Sentinel, where Darrin Drader argues modern 5E resolved the roleplayer-versus-ruleplayer question in the wrong direction, trading realism for balance, and pitches his Daring & Dread as the corrective. Countering the usual sneer from the other side, thoughtpunks posted an earnest defense of rules-light systems against their common critiques. Both are worth reading precisely because neither is a hot take.
EN World’s “On TTRPG Kickstarters, merchandise, and markups” digs into profit margins, useful reading before you back your next slipcase edition. Elsewhere the usual honest labor continued: Dyson Logos posted the “Pit of Despair - The Sump” map, The Alexandrian reran a GURPS Space review, and EN World’s White Dwarf Reflections #43 revisited July 1983 and the liquidation of Metagaming. Some things about this hobby do not change.
On the Horizon
Crowdfunding continues apace. EN World’s roundup flags Deadlands, Ultimate Horrors, Forgotten Foes, Shadowdark sourcebooks, and more. Separately, the classic Dark Conspiracy returns as Dark Conspiracy: The Unseen War, now built on Traveller rules and live on BackerKit.
In development but not yet asking for money: hexedpress is building a Dark Sun-style setting (“Under the Anti-Sun”), now with a map and 36 backgrounds, and RockClanProductions resumed work on the first Council of Gothmoor adventure for PF2e. Modest, real, and refreshingly free of a countdown timer.
