The Sea Wolf's Old Gods

The Sea Wolf’s Old Gods talent lets you align with a deity each rest. Odin returns 1d4 HP every time you drop an enemy. Freya grants a daily luck token. Loki gives advantage on deception. These are repeatable. You pick one per rest and it keeps paying out, kill after kill, day after day.

The trap is the rest of the talent list. Situational upgrades read well on the sheet and fire once a session if the planets line up. Old Gods fires every fight. A Sea Wolf who keeps reaching for the conditional boost is effectively skipping the one talent that scales with how often the character actually does its job, which is killing things and surviving long enough to rest again.

The math is unsentimental. A 1d4 heal per kill across a dungeon floor outpaces almost any once-per-day effect you were tempted by. Consistency beats ceiling when the ceiling rarely gets touched.

At the table: Before the next fight, have the Sea Wolf declare which god they aligned with on the last rest. If they can’t remember, that’s your answer about which talents they’re actually using.
