The Fissure Wasp Architect's Spit Glue
The Fissure Wasp Architect is built for one job: making geography hurt. Its spit glue is a missile fire attack at +4, and the point of it is not damage. It is control. A hit forces a Fort save (DC 10) or the target’s movement is halved until the glue is dealt with. That number is deliberately low. The Architect wins by attrition, not by rolling well.
The threat lives in the placement. On open ground, halved movement is an annoyance. Drop the same wasp into a fissure, a ledge trail, or a passage one PC wide, and difficult terrain plus the glue stacks into a genuine trap. Players who ignore the glue and keep pushing forward discover the terrain doing the wasp’s work for it. The counter is unglamorous: bait the attack, then close or shoot while it recovers, and keep to ground where reduced speed does not strand you next to the thing.
Read it as an encounter seed, not a stat block to grind through. The design intent is positioning under pressure.
At the table: Post the wasp above a single file ledge, let it glue the lead PC, then watch the marching order pile up behind the halved mover.
